Destinations International (DI), an association for destination organizations and convention and visitors bureaus, has announced nine recipients of the Destinations International Foundation Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) and Hospitality Scholarship. Each student will receive $8,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year, with the foundation having raised over $225,000 to date from individual and organization donors.

The scholarship program aims to support underrepresented and ethnically diverse students pursuing degrees in hospitality or tourism management. Recipients will be paired with local mentors and participate in ongoing learning programs with DI members throughout the academic year.

The program addresses barriers faced by these students in pursuing management-track careers, including college costs and challenges in enrolling, attending and graduating. The 2024-2025 recipients come from various HBCUs, including Bethune-Cookman University, Delaware State University, North Carolina Central University, Morgan State University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
